OK, gang. Gave up on monad.useless, er...monad.net. Bought myself a domain name, woo-hoo! I'll be mitymous.net. So here's hoping a real webhost is the way to go!

WOO-HOO!!! Passed the ATO Exercise!!! Who'd a thunk it??!! I was hoping to survive the requisite 8 turns; no thought of winning ever even crossed my mind. But I beat the f-er in 5 turns. I'll take it!

Well, my mighty ISP is still tango uniform (at least the web portion). Guaranteed solution from 'em on 10/22. It's 11/5 and not a peep. Execpt, of course, for their great new BILLING SYSTEM! Now there's an improvement for the customer (NOT!) Anywho, I took 1 Nov "off" to go to the dentist and cram for ACSC test 6. Took that sucker on Friday the 2d and even on a munificent 2 hrs sleep, I think I nailed it. And managed to get 5/8 of the way through the ATO exercise on Sunday. At last, the end is in sight!

Well, long time, no blog. Long weekend ended Sunday afternoon; with the bombing campaign starting in Afghanistan, we went back to Charlie and back to work. Which began another 12 day stint at work. And to add to the bloglessness, my ever-worsening ISP has had all personal websites Tango Uniform for a couple of weeks. They promise to "work out a solution SOON...I'll offer 'em a hint: BUY A SERVER!.
So, Saturday night, I dreamed about Doc Watson. Dreamed he was playing a show at my old college gym. And I ended up at his house the next day, visiting the family, shootin' the breeze. And even in my exhausted slumber, I had better sense than to try and jam with him!

Got the long weekend off; imagine that. Only because the brilliant folks at HAFB f'd up the paperwork for FY02 mandays, so I don't have any mandays, and no idea when or how many will be approved. So, they can't have me working. And double bummer, back to the contractor grind on Tuesday. After the reprehensible behavior of the site manager and his limp deputy, it's going to be uncomfortable going back. Not to mention trying to get back into that groove after over 3 weeks away. Didn't miss it, that's for sure. Trying to get back into the ACSC study groove this weekend; it's tough too after so long away. But if I don't get Test 6 done while the gettin's good, I'm liable to get timed out, and I refuse to let that happen (circumstances willing) after burning an entire year working on it. But cool beans, LTC Foltz offered to help figure out the ATO exercise!

Wow, a day off! First one since the 10th. Yesterday was only a 6 hour day; I actually saw the house in daylight! And today was a treat; cleaned the chimney, woo-hoo, and went to town. Bought a new gym bag and went out to dinner. That's the most excitement for this household in about 10 months. Unfortunately, back to the grind tomorrow; up at 0230 and out the door by 0400. In some ways, it would have been easier to just keep grinding; that little taste of "freedom" will only make the grind harder to take! Let's roll....

Well, it's been a while. 11 September, the terrorist attacks on our nation occurred. 15 minutes after the first crash, I was in the CAT, and 2 hours later I was activated. 27 hours later I got to go home, and have worked 17 straight 12+ hour days since then (with no end in sight). If I thought it was making a contribution, I wouldn't mind, but since it's just in support of "death by PowerPoint," it's hard to be too enthused. Gee, I wonder what a day off is like? Getting up at 0230 really sucks; and 3 am workouts are a real thrill. And so much for taking the ACSC test any time soon.

Oh, lordy, so much I wanna do: learn decorative leather braiding, learn xml, master ASP, get a tattoo, visit Best Friends, squat 300 in a meet...and finish ACSC!. Test 6 on Friday 14th, ready or not. Then the exercise and future planning, and it's DONE!

Well, it must be old friends week. I had the pleasure of seeing "Sweet Lou" - haven't seen him all summer. Turns out he had a cancerous kidney removed last month (and was back to work in 3 weeks!). Now here's a guy who really takes care of himself- no tobacco, alcohol, caffeine, red meat; works out regularly. Go figger. At least they got it all before it had spread, and he's looking pretty good for a guy 3 weeks out of surgery.

New Zunis arrived today! Two great pieces by Julius Yuselew, my favorite carver. Both black marble; a cool little skunk and an etched medicine bear. Both pieces courtesy of the super-nice Jim of Spiritstone Trading.

Heard from a good old friend today; it's been several months - guess we are both equally delinquent in the communications department. Dave of Annazach Software has built a great business and life for himself; it's really inspiring to see good people do well on the basis of their own brains, talent, and cojones.

Old News is Good News...

Ain't it interesting...Good old Vermont Yankee had in its employ for many years a man who turns out to be a child molester and the suspect in the disappearance of two women!

Also worth note is that in none of the exhaustive news coverage of these related cases is it mentioned anywhere that the fine corporation of VY was the gentleman's employer.

Wonder how much it cost 'em to hush that up?

Wonder how proud they are at chasing honest citizens out of work, while happily continuing to employ the quality worker exemplified in this article?

I'm sure they are all sleeping quite well...the advantage of having no morals and no conscience.

And a new layout. Ha! You didn't even see the old one!

Today's workout: chest/shoulders/tris. Should be decent; no work today so it's not too late, and not too early.
